Who am I?
I am teacher of Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) and MBCT and the Mindfulness ‘Frantic World’ course. I am a Consultant Midwife at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) where I lead the NHS MBCP antenatal education programme and research. I have an MSc and Clinical Doctorate and trained in MBCP and MBCT through the OMC.
What do I do?
With the support of the OMC and in collaboration with Dr Maret Dymond of the OMC and Nancy Bardacke we have introduced Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting into the UK. As part of my role, I run a NHS MBCP antenatal programme for pregnant women and their families in Oxfordshire and I teach The ‘Frantic World’ Mindfulness courses to obstetricians, midwives and support workers.
I also lead the OUH MBCP research programme investigating the impact of offering MBCP and Mindfulness courses to pregnant women, their families and maternity unit staff.
Why I love working at the OMC
I feel extraordinarily privileged to have the teachers and researchers of the OMC as colleagues. We have had the most wonderful journey in bringing the opportunities of mindfulness practice to pregnant women and their families. The depth of knowledge, consistent encouragement and generosity in sharing their wisdom to support innovation, research and the personal journey of so many is inspiring.
