A new communications programme and app supports the Oxford Mindfulness mission

The roll-out of a new communications programme, supported by two philanthropic collaborators, began last week with the launch of the new Oxford Mindfulness website and branding, and was quickly followed by a new mindfulness app.

The programme, which also involves collaborations with colleagues in the field including Willem Kuyken the Ritblat Professor of Mindfulness and Psychological Science at the University of Oxford, focuses on supporting our shared mission – to increase access to research-based mindfulness to all areas of society.

Mindfulness, VSI and the app project

One of our philanthropic collaborators is the Visual Snow Initiative (VSI) – a non-profit organisation working to increase awareness about Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) which is a neurological condition characterised by a continuous visual disturbance.

Following a study which showed Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) adapted for VSS resulted in improved symptoms, VSI Founder & CEO, Sierra Domb, reached out to us at Oxford Mindfulness and went on to sponsor the app.

We’re delighted that, through their support and sponsorship, we’ve been able to produce a high-quality app with a large volume of free resources and low-cost subscriptions.

About the app

Currently available in over 70 countries, the app has been designed for adults to introduce and maintain mindfulness practice. It offers a library of research-based meditations, self-paced introductory courses and resources as well as the opportunity for workplaces and organisations to support their communities and/or employees through collaborations.

The programme focuses on supporting our shared mission – to increase access to research-based mindfulness to all areas of society.

Supporting our work

If you’d like to collaborate and / or support the app, there are various ways you can do so:

  • Download it from the App Store or Google Play and use it for your personal well-being
  • Submit your meditations and join our app teaching community
  • Introduce the app to your course participants, if you’re a trained teacher
  • Offer the app to your workplace; collaborate with us to tailor a section of the app for your workplace
  • Leave a review in your app store – to help increase visibility and reach
  • Write a review which we can use in our public communications – email to app@oxfordmindfulness.org
  • Provide feedback to us directly

The launch of the communications programme, website and app is a huge milestone for us and we’re grateful for the sponsorship which made it possible. We’re looking forward to sharing more with you soon about the collaboration behind the website and branding.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
