With 30 years in the food and beverage service industry and nearly 10 years of owning and operating a brewery, Ms. Slayton understands the stresses and anxieties that often accompany hospitality jobs, as well as the default ways in which these challenges are generally handled. She believes that mindfulness offers hospitality owners, managers, and staff a more supportive, sustainable way to approach the tough stuff – and savor the good stuff! Through mindfulness practice, teams are able to respond to stress more skilfully, build greater resilience, and strengthen focus in fast-paced environments. Based in the American Heartland, Ms. Slayton draws on more than a decade of formal practice and training to deliver seminars and workshops to groups of all sizes, both in person and virtually. Her beginner-friendly guidance is approachable, engaging, and tailored to real-world scenarios that resonate with those in the service industry. Given the diversity of the hospitality industry, Ms. Slayton knows that those who participate in her sessions have all had different life experiences, and she celebrates these differences by seeking to provide a welcoming, supportive, and culturally sensitive learning environment. All sessions adopt a “do no harm” approach whereby participants are encouraged to be their own guides in choosing various ways to adapt their practice to suit their individual needs.
