Meeting the Climate Crisis Inside Out for Trained Teachers

Join Jamie Bristow, renowned expert on the application of mindfulness and compassion-based approaches in politics and public policy, for an enlightening session that weaves together the profound themes of agency and connection.

About the event

Building on his influential publications, ‘Reconnection: Meeting the Climate Crisis Inside Out‘ and ‘Mindfulness: Developing Agency in Urgent Times,’ and on his more recent work with the Inner Development Goals, Jamie offers personal learners of mindfulness, teachers and advocates a fresh narrative that underscores the vital role of mindfulness and compassion in addressing today’s global challenges.

Discover how these practices are not only personal tools but foundational for collective sensemaking, resilience and transformative action in our world.

The first part of this event – lasting approximately 1 hour 30 minutes – is open to trained teachers and others with a keen interest and personal practice in mindfulness. The topic will be outlined and explored with time for general Q&A at the end

After a short comfort break of 15-20 minutes, trained mindfulness teachers (only) will be warmly invited back for a more in-depth discussion with each other and the session facilitator.

This second part of the event will include breakout room discussions to explore:

  • What we can learn from this and each other as a shared community of teachers
  • How this topic may inform our teaching
  • What we are taking away from the session

We will end with a final Q&A session.

Please note: This event is included, at no extra cost, as part of the new Oxford Mindfulness Members’ Programme. Non–members are welcome to join the event at the relevant fee band.

If you’re a personal learner of mindfulness, you may be interested to note there will be a separate workshop on the same topic by Jamie, specifically for personal learners – view event details.

This event is open to fully trained mindfulness teachers who’ve participated in a 12-month teacher training programme to deliver 8-week mindfulness-based courses.
