Peter Yiangou

As chair of the board of trustees, I work closely with the CEO and fellow board members to provide strategic leadership for Oxford Mindfulness. The pandemic brought with it a significant increase in our operations worldwide and the need to manage growth and structural changes in the organisation while ensuring good governance and sound financial and business practices. This included a redefined role for the charity which offers all teaching, training and ongoing development activities under the Oxford Mindfulness name rather than as the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC).

With the CEO, I also oversee the ongoing collaboration with the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry under the title of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, now reconfigured to provide field wide communications relating to research, curricula and other significant field developments.

With my fellow trustees I was closely involved in the establishment within the University of Oxford of the Ritblat Chair of Mindfulness and Psychological Science in 2019, currently held of Prof Willem Kuyken. Oxford Mindfulness continues to support this important development in the mindfulness field.

I’m also a trained MBCT teacher and Supervisor for Oxford Mindfulness.

My professional background is as a Chartered Architect. I set up and ran Yiangou Architects, an award winning practice, retiring in 2017.

As a member of the board, I’m actively involved in supporting the operational team of Oxford Mindfulness, drawing on my experience of managing projects and running a medium sized business. As Oxford Mindfulness grows in scope and impact I aim to assist in guiding the evolving business model in an impactful, sustainable and mindful way.

“I’m delighted to be a part of the development of Oxford Mindfulness in investigating and promoting evidence based approaches of the understanding of the human mind.“
