My background is in the news media, where I’ve worked as a journalist, editor and senior manager, in the UK and internationally, over the course of several decades. I was the Editor of the BBC’s online news operation for ten years between 2006 and 2016, overseeing its journalism during a period of rapid growth and change in response to new technology and the evolving needs of digital news audiences. I subsequently worked as Editorial Director of the BBC’s global media monitoring agency, where I helped lead major change including a reshaping of editorial strategy and content. Since 2019 I have been working as a freelance editor, consultant and qualified coach and mentor.
While studying for a Masters Degree in coaching practice in 2021 I became interested in research into mindfulness-based approaches and their potential role in helping people deal with challenges more effectively, in a work setting and in daily life. This interest led me to pursue further studies and training at Oxford Mindfulness, because of its reputation for formal mindfulness-related teaching and strong research ties. I found this experience enormously useful, both practical and inspiring, and am delighted now to be able to offer my background, skills and experience in supporting the organisation’s work as a trustee.
“I look forward to supporting Oxford Mindfulness in their efforts to communicate and share MBCT-based mindfulness training and its potential benefits on a global scale.“
