I was first introduced to yoga and meditation whilst I was living in Mauritius. When I returned to the UK at 14, I continued with school and later graduated from university in 2000 with a degree in European Media, Culture, and Politics. During my twenties and thirties, I got married and raised my children. At the time, I didn’t realise it, but I was already using mindfulness tools—like focusing on my breath—to help manage everyday challenges. Looking back, I see that I had been practicing mindfulness in small ways for many years. After studying with the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation (OMF), I’ve come to better understand how powerful these simple practices can be. Pausing, taking a breath, and being present in the moment have become essential to my sense of calm and well-being.
