I have been practicing mindfulness for the past twenty years. My teacher training started in 2014, with a Level 1 Teacher Training Course taught by the late, beloved, Cindy Cooper of the Mindfulness Network. However, I eventually switched from my MBSR teacher training pathway to training in shorter, workplace focused, courses. In 2023, I completed a ‘Mindfulness in a Workplace Context’ course taught by Michael Chaskalson (also via the Mindfulness Network) and in 2024, I undertook an OMF ‘Train to Teach Introducing Mindfulness’ course run by Sian Warriner and Claire Kelly. I enjoyed the rigorous comprehensive training provided and found the course format perfectly suited my aspiration to run a short course for people new to mindfulness; and to offer ‘drop-ins’ for work colleagues or community groups. I qualified in June 2025 after successfully delivering two courses.
My hope for the future is that I will be able to introduce more people to this millennial wellbeing practice – with special consideration for men, people living with long term conditions and anyone who wants to shun the dreaded ‘second arrow’ of Buddhist fame. I intend to embody a teaching which is down to earth, approachable, warm, humorous and never pompous.
