Dimitri Gavriloff

Dr Dimitri Gavriloff is a Clinical Psychologist and Sleep Medicine Specialist at the University of Oxford’s Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute. His work focuses on understanding and treating sleep disorders, particularly insomnia, and developing evidence based psychological approaches that help people achieve healthier sleep.

Alongside his clinical and research work, Dimitri leads professional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia and has a particular interest in behavioural, cognitive, and mindfulness informed approaches to sleep and wellbeing. Prior to training as a clinical psychologist, he spent several years practising as a Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest Tradition, bringing a unique perspective to the relationship between contemplative practice, behaviour change, and sleep health.

Dimitri is supporting Oxford Mindfulness to explore the science of sleep, why so many people struggle to get the rest they need, and what research tells us about the habits, behaviours, and psychological processes that support healthier sleep and wellbeing.

“Sleep plays a vital role in our wellbeing. Alongside its well-established role in the treatment of insomnia, mindfulness can help foster a healthier and more supportive relationship with sleep. I’m delighted to support Oxford Mindfulness in exploring the many pathways to healthier, happier lives, and I look forward to sharing insights from sleep science and behavioural medicine.“
