Hilary Walker

Hilary Walker is an entrepreneur, veteran media strategist, and leader in public communications. She spent two decades in journalism and media, including 16 years at Canada’s national public broadcaster (CBC), where she served as a senior editorial leader. Operating at the intersection of strategic communications and high-impact journalism, she led coverage for some of the country’s largest events, including the Olympics, federal elections, and complex public-interest investigations. From there, she co-founded an award-winning consumer products company. Scaling this brand across channels cemented her expertise in brand development, digital marketing, and the customer experience. Bringing curiosity and constructive optimism to her work, she understands how to balance mission-driven values with operational and commercial realities.

Hilary’s connection to mindfulness is rooted in personal experience. She discovered the transformative power of meditation through a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, and her relationship to the practice deepened as a participant in the OMF’s inaugural Kyoto Mindful Leadership Programme. A strong believer in the restorative power of nature, Hilary also holds a Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing) guide certification completed in Japan. She continues to meditate regularly, approaching mindfulness not just as a standalone practice, but as a foundational way of being that underpins her overall approach to health and wellness.

In her role as a trustee, she stewards that mission while contributing to the next stage of the organisation’s growth. She advises the OMF from a strategic communications perspective with the objective of deepening the foundation’s impact globally

“I’m drawn to the OMF’s commitment to making mindfulness accessible while remaining firmly grounded in research“
