“Looking back, I’d say the teacher training and the connections I’ve built – both with the trainers and with my fellow co-trainees – are probably the most profound and deep relationships I’ve ever had.”

Which training routes can I take?

If you’re new to teaching mindfulness, you have the choice of two routes – either training to teach our 3-session ‘Introducing Mindfulness’ course or opting for our full 12-month teacher training programme where, on completion, you’ll be able to teach several 8-week courses as well as the shorter ‘Introducing Mindfulness’ course.

Train to Teach ‘Introducing Mindfulness’

Our Train to Teach ‘Introducing Mindfulness’ (IM) is a 10-day mindfulness teacher training course providing you with the skills you need to teach an introductory mindfulness course and to present mindfulness “drop in” sessions in a variety of settings.

It includes:

  • Full training to teach the Introducing Mindfulness (IM) 3-session course
  • Follow-up supervision sessions
  • A post-training certification process to support your application for a ‘Trained to Introduce Mindfulness’ certificate

It’s for you if you’d like to skilfully introduce mindfulness, but not teach a full 8-week course.

12-Month Teacher Training Programme

Our 12-Month Teacher Training Programme offers you the opportunity to develop your skills, competencies and confidence to teach mindfulness in a variety of different settings and receive a Trained Teacher Certificate from Oxford Mindfulness.

The training is suitable for you if you’re a professional working in clinical contexts with patients or if you’d like to teach adults in other settings; for example, in education, the workplace or in your community.

By the end of the 12-month programme, you’ll have trained in at least three different mindfulness courses, each with their foundations in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT):

  • If you’re a professional working in a clinical setting you will be trained to teach Mindfulness for Life (MBCT-L), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT) or Finding Peace in a Frantic World, and the Introducing Mindfulness (IM) 3-session course.
  • If you plan to offer mindfulness in other settings, you’ll train to teach Mindfulness for Life (MBCT-L), Finding Peace in a Frantic World and the Introducing Mindfulness (IM) 3-session course.
