Sussex Mindfulness Centre (SMC), part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, offers a year-long, BAMBA-approved Foundation Level training in MBCT. They are seeking experienced mindfulness teachers to provide supervision and placements for their cohort of trainee MBCT teachers.
About Sussex Mindfulness Centre
Since 2011, SMC has been training clinical and non-clinical staff who want to teach MBCT in a wide variety of settings. To ensure their trainees gain valuable experience, they’re required to assist in teaching an MBCT group with an experienced teacher and to receive 8 hours of supervision on their work. SMC is seeking trained mindfulness teachers who can offer these valuable placements.
Some trainees are experienced clinicians or have prior mindfulness teaching experience and can take on significant responsibilities within a placement. Others are newer to teaching and may begin with a smaller role as they build their confidence and skills.
What are SMC looking for?
- Experienced, trained mindfulness teachers leading groups between Sept–Dec 2025 or Jan–April 2026 (with provisional dates for learner groups acceptable at this stage).
- Groups located online (anywhere in the world) or face-to-face in Sussex.
- Groups conducted in English.
- Ideally, teachers who can also offer supervision and meet the Good Practice Guidelines for Supervision.
- Teachers that do not meet the supervision requirements may still be considered as SMC may be able to provide a separate supervisor.
What are the benefits?
- Teachers that meet the Good Practice Guidelines for Supervision will be paid £480 for 8 hours of supervision.
- Teachers gain an assistant teacher to help facilitate their group.
- An opportunity to contribute to the next generation of MBCT teachers.
- Develop mentoring and supervisory skills alongside teaching.
- Become an Associate SMC Mindfulness Teacher and gain free access to SMC’s mentoring/supervision of supervision group.
