Technology Meets Mindfulness: Our Partnership with the World’s First Web Browser with Mindfulness at Its Core

We’re delighted to share that Oxford Mindfulness has entered into a new partnership with Opera Air, a beautifully designed, mindfulness-focused web browser developed by Opera.

Mindfulness and technology

At Oxford Mindfulness, we’ve long championed that mindfulness is not something we step away from everyday life to “do.” Rather, it’s a way of being, a skill and a quality of attention we can bring to each moment, including the ones spent in front of a screen. With so much of modern life happening through technology, we need to ensure that digital spaces support well-being, rather than undermine it.

Opera Air is doing just that. It’s the world’s first web browser we’ve seen built around mindfulness, thoughtfully integrating design and features that support mental clarity and well-being. Their team has reimagined how technology can support mental health, and we’re proud to partner with them as they lead the way in this new, more mindful direction.

Together, we share a vision of a world where mindfulness is woven into the fabric of everyday life, not reserved for special settings or separate from our work and routines. This partnership brings our expertise in research-based mindfulness into collaboration with Opera’s cutting-edge technology and commitment to user well-being.

As part of this exciting collaboration, I’m thrilled to announce that Opera Air will be the headline sponsor of our Annual Gathering this August in Marlow, UK.

This year’s event is particularly meaningful as it brings together the original founders of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Professors Zindel Segal, Mark Williams and John Teasdale for a rare in-person dialogue to reflect on the past 30 years of mindfulness in mental health, and to look ahead to the next 30.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Opera Air team for their support and for their bold, compassionate vision of technology that enhances, not competes with, human well-being.

We encourage our community to check out Opera Air for themselves, as it’s available now in early access on Mac and Windows. It’s elegant, calming, and full of simple features – such as breathing exercises and guided meditations – designed to bring steadiness into the digital day.

As our partnership develops, we’ll be working closely with the Opera Air team to support the evolution of their in-browser mindfulness content. While this is still early days, our aim is to help ensure future content reflects Oxford Mindfulness’ values, research-based approach, and commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. We’re grateful for the thoughtful foundation Opera Air has already created and look forward to building on it together in the months ahead.

Introducing the first browser with mindfulness at its core

Opera has been at the forefront of innovation for 30 years, introducing the features that later become standard in other browsers. Today, they continue to deliver safe, fast, and original technology for hundreds of millions around the world.

Our approach to collaboration

At Oxford Mindfulness, we’re committed to working with organisations that share our vision of a kinder, more conscious world.

Many of our partners operate across a range of sectors or services. Our collaborations focus on specific projects where we find strong alignment, and we are always mindful of the broader context in which our partners work.

We take time to ensure that both the project and the partnership reflect our values, and that together we are contributing meaningfully to the evolving field of mental health and well-being. All partnerships are reviewed regularly to ensure they continue to serve our mission with integrity.
