About this fundraiser
During May 2025, we’re introducing our very first ‘Mindful Mile’ fundraising events to support our mission to increase access to mindfulness training, helping people achieve greater well-being and improved mental health.
And we’re delighted that Oxford Mindfulness teachers Rima Saad Hochreiter and Zeynep Ağacıkoğlu are organising an event in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria.
Vienna is one of the greenest cities in the world with stunning parks which we’re sure will be at their most delightful in spring.
This 5k (3.1 mile) walk will start at 12-noon and the invitation is to walk the first mile (1.6k) together mindfully perhaps by paying attention to the physical sensations as you walk or by taking in the sights and sounds of this stunning city. You’re then welcome to walk the whole walk, part of the walk as you choose or finish after the initial mile.
The route is a popular circular walk along which you’ll experience Vienna up close. Enjoy the city’s historic boulevard and its magnificent buildings including the State Opera House, the Parliament, the City Hall, the University and the Stock Exchange.

We hope you’ll support us by joining the event, or by making a donation, and help make it an annual occasion where we can come together, practise mindful walking and support positive mental health and well-being.
Please note, there is a £10 registration fee which will be put towards the total fundraising efforts for the walk.
Once you’re registered, remember to share the news with your friends, family and community and ask them to support you by donating to the event!

Mindful walking in the media
We were delighted to see mindful walking being highlighted in the Guardian.
The article, “How to walk your way to better health: five simple tips to supercharge your stroll and transform your wellbeing” notes:
“Research has shown that people who regularly practised mindful walking for a month saw reductions in their stress levels, as well as improved mood and overall mental health.”
The piece references a study ‘Mindful walking in psychologically distressed individuals: a randomized controlled trial’ that concludes ‘Patients participating in a mindful walking program showed reduced psychological stress symptoms and improved quality of life compared to no study intervention.’
